I'm a big fan of the original Boston Baked Bean candies. I eat way more than I'd like to admit. While looking on Amazon I found this alternative. The price was better and the delivery time met my cravings. So I decided to try them.The package arrived very quickly. I was happy about that. Upon picking up the bag I discovered it was quite heavy. You get a lot in the bag. I immediately poured some into a coffee cup, nearly filling it, and it hardly reduced the remainder. I'd estimate that I could fill at least four full coffee mugs from the bag you get. So this represents a good value.I'd also note that the bag itself is of a higher metallic quality, always a good sign, in order to keep the contents fresh.Now, taste and texture are the most important considerations. I'm very familiar with the originals.The all important shell, while almost perfectly the same, might possibly be a very slight bit less sugary. It's such a close call that I might be incorrect and they may be the same. So, if it's this hard to tell any difference does it matter?A lot of people complain about how hard these candy alternatives can be. But, unless you have a connection to the factory for very fresh Original Boston Baked Beans, they are very hard too. These compare favorably and I detect no difference in texture. If blindfolded I would not be able to tell the difference. Again, I eat the originals often and I know.I don't notice any difference in the peanut center. Perhaps they use the same source because the experience is identical.Obsessively eating these is just as much a problem as with the originals. It is very hard to stop eating them. I believe you will enjoy them.My verdict? I will always choose the Original Boston Baked Bean candies as my first choice. However, because these are just as good and a better deal, my reasoning is simply loyalty. The bottom line, to me, is that these are just as good!Hope this helps. Enjoy!
