This is an item that you just eat out of the tin with a spoon after peeling the foil top off (no can opener). I eat them at room temperature, as most do - you could refrigerate to make them cold if you want to, but they can be tossed into backpack for on the go. Can also be added to a bowl of undressed lettuce, veggies or what have you, to make a larger meal, but they are surprisingly filling in themselves. The product is solidly packed and is not soup - but does have enough of delicious dressing to flavor plain lettuce that you might add it to, etc..
