About This Item

• 👉 Ingredients 3-5 Sardines, 100% Refined Olive Oil, Cucumber, Piri-piri, Carrot, Laurel, Clove, BlackPepper

It's clear that Nuri sardines are of exceptional quality and craftsmanship. The meticulous selection process, from choosing the finest sardines that come from the cold Atlantic waters off Portugal's west coast to processing them by hand, ensures a premium product. This attention to detail sets them apart from basic store-bought sardines. The fact that Nuri sardines are processed fresh rather than frozen contributes to their freshness and lack of a strong fishy smell. The emphasis on using the best fish, freshest ingredients, unique vapor cooking method, and careful manual preparation all come together to create a handmade and intensive product. The description of each can being wrapped by hand as a special gift truly reflects the care and craftsmanship that goes into making Nuri sardines. It's apparent that Nuri takes pride in producing a very premium and distinctive sardine product for those who appreciate the finest quality seafood.

What Everyone's Saying

Customers praise these sardines for their rich combination of spice and umami, noting they're not too spicy and have a nice firm texture that's not mushy. Moreover, the sardines are big and healthy, with one customer highlighting their omega-3 content. However, opinions on value for money are mixed, with some finding them well worth the price while others consider them pricey.

Recent User Experience

Be warned, if you eat these sardines, you will not eat any other brand, and these are not cheap. For example, other cheap brands are about $1 per can. These are north of $5 per can, and I've seen it up to $10 per can. If you subscribe, you can get them just under $4 per can, but that's still way more than the standard brands. The sardines themselves are big and actually are packed tight in the can. Thus the ratio of meat to oil is very high compared to other brands, making the value a bit better for the money. For example Wild Planet sardines are small, and are not packed to the extent that the Nuri sardines are. Thus there is significantly more oil, which weight-wise is almost as much as the sardines themselves. I would estimate that the amount of sardines in a Nuri tin is almost double than a cheaper brand. The fish itself is top notch. Cooked perfectly; firm, and not overly fishy. Compared to other brands, there are less internal organs, which can be a minus or plus, depending if you like that or not. There are some nutrients in the organs that might be missing, but I think it's a good balance. The combination of spices along with the sardines themselves infuse the olive oil with a warm and rich combination of spice and umami. The clove and laurel give an additional depth of flavor. Definitely do not throw the oil out...it's arguably the best part of the experience, especially if you eat this with a salad, crackers, or rice. There is a small chili pepper in there, but it is only mildly spicy and edible, along with a slice of cucumber and carrot. The only inedible thing in the can is the clove. The health benefits are off the charts as well. Sardines provide protein, but have many more nutrients than that. The bones provide a lot of calcium, and the omega-3 content (the good omega fat) is really high. Along with olive oil, which has a whole host of benefits as well, your blood work after eating this a while (maybe 2-3 times a week) will amaze your doctor. After having Nuri sardines, I'm totally ruined for other sardines. I tried eating another brand, and I literally gagged. I might as well be eating cat food than other brands of sardines.Don't say that you weren't warned.
