This comes in a nice outer product box. It’s made in the UK. Ingredients are listed. The bottle is nice. Nothing fancy or unique, but a nice look to it. You can dump out some onto your hands or a cotton ball/pad to apply. It’s an essence. It has a thin consistency. Not quite as thin as water, there’s a thickness to it that’s kind of oily but not oily in the sense that it’s greasy or anything when applied.Seeing the $140 price tag on this for 1 fl oz, it instantly makes me wonder if this actually lives up to that cost. To me, skin care is worth the cost if the ingredients are there AND if it’s beneficial for me.So many skin care products make big claims and don’t have the ingredients to back those claims up. They use ingredients to market their product like they’re key ingredients (which, to me, means there’s enough of those ingredient(s) to be effective), but then looking at the ingredient list, it’s clear those ingredients aren’t going to be effective. Often, they’re too low on the ingredient list to be effective. Of course, there are some ingredients that are effective in very low concentrations (like retinol). But, a lot of times a brand will claim it has retinol in it, but it ends up not actually being retinol. It’s a retinyl ester, which is not nearly as effective even in higher concentrations. So seeing it at all instead of actual retinol, but also low on the ingredient list, is always disappointing when the brand claimed there was retinol in it as a selling point. So, when a product is more expensive like this, I prefer the concentration of the key ingredients to be listed. If they aren’t, then I need to see those actual ingredients in the ingredient list and it needs to look like they’d be in concentrations that are effective. But, really, with so many options when it comes to skin care, I’m not spending a lot on a product if they can’t be bothered to clearly state the concentrations of the active or key ingredients.I’m happy to say that this brand DOES state the concentration of the ingredients…5% Azeloglicina™ - An azelaic acid derivative that improves skin tone, reduces appearance of hyperpigmentation, and hydrates and smooths skin.3% Succinic Acid - Clears our pores, exfoliates dead skin cells, and helps control oil production.2% Tranexamic Acid - For hyperpigmentation.1% Gluconolactone (PHA) - A gentle antioxidant to exfoliate and hydrate. It also has Mandelic Acid, Micro Algae Complex, and Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Acid. That’s a pretty potent combination! So I was excited to try it!With most essences I’ve used, they were supposed to be applied daily (even a couple times a day). But this one says to use it 2-3x a week. This does lightly exfoliate my skin, removing dead skin cells, so my skin feels soft and smooth after. I’ve been using this 3x a week for almost 3 months and I have noticed a difference in my hyperpigmentation. It’s definitely lessened some. My skin seems brighter, less redness. It’s not a huge difference, but it’s noticeable. I’m excited to see what more I see with continued use!
