I tried this together with the shampoo. They work very well together and do add some hydration without any weight at all.The shampoo makes your hair feel very clean, but not stripped or dried out at all. It makes it feel soft, even before you rinse it out. It has a foamy lather and rinses away easily. Hair just feels super clean and soft and then following up with the conditioner is the icing on the cake.The conditioner isn't very heavy or thick, but it does help to hydrate and I've noticed it gives a lot of shine and smoothing, without any residue or anything on your hair. It gives a silk finish look. Especially when first rinsing it out. It is a very noticeable difference and nothing bad about it at all.This conditioner rinses away easily and doesn't leave hair weighed down or feeling like it has left anything behind on your hair.It doesn't give a ton of slip, but somehow it does soften really well and add back that moisture that coils need. At first I didn't like the lack of slip on some of the ends, but then I realized it is still giving that hydration and softening even without the excessive slip. It does allow for detangling just fine and when I rinse it out of the coily 5 year old's hair, I can see the improvement that its made because her hair shines and has a silky look to it. All without any type of build up or weighing it down at all. We usually use the heavy Pattern conditioner, but that one hasn't been a fave because even though it is very rich and heavy, it doesn't add as much softening and it kind of leaves a dull look to her hair vs this Alterna leaves a healthy shiny and the hair just feels very well conditioned and you can tell the extra hydration is there. Alterna rinses away more easily and nicely and doesn't feel like it leaves that sort of light waxy coating... it is actually penetrating the hair to work... and then rinses away completely without rinsing away the good stuff.The scent is very mild, natural smelling but not earthy, and doesn't linger. I almost thought it was unscented at first, but when I took a closer, stronger sniff I did notice the very light scent.All in all, it is a really nice set of products to use. A great start to great hair. Cleanses, conditions and adds some much needed moisture to coils without overdoing it. Hair just looks and feels healthy.
