This is a very personal item, in more ways than one. A shape or size that works for one woman won't necessarily work for the next woman. You might also find that you have to change cups as you age. The cup in this set seems fairly standard to me. The ball on the end of the stem is a nice touch. The ridges around the bottom are also more rounded than on some cups I've seen which can make this a little more comfortable. In general, though, it's a pretty standard cup. Just make sure you get the right size (B - larger for older women or those who have given birth vaginally, A - younger women or girls who have not given birth). It is possible that you might want something larger than this company offers if you have any days of exceptionally heavy flow. The disk is something I had never seen in person before. The rim is like the cup's rim and much thicker than the body of the cup. The bowl of the disk is a very thin silicone that's very flexible. I don't know how easy it is to tear it, but I am being careful. I have no complaints about either of these products.Products like these can be difficult to get used to, but you should be able to figure it out if you keep trying and don't give up. They save a ton of money and are so much better for the environment. The manufacturer recommends replacing this after 2 or 3 years but says that it can last 5. I say, that's just because they want to sell more of these. I had my first cup over 10 years. It wasn't this brand, but they're not dissimilar. Clean it carefully and accept some possible discoloration over time. Yes, they cost a lot at the beginning, but after the purchase, the only cost is for whatever you clean it with. I wish more women would try these and decide that they don't need to support the over-priced pad and tampon industry any more.
