This stuff is great for my curls and gives me so much body & fullness and most important, it holds my curls! I've been a licensed cosmotologist for over 30yrs. I started using Joico products in beauty school then continued for years until I began developing contact dermatitis. I found out Joico had changed their recipe, so whatever the change was, anywhere my wet hair would touch, I'd get a rash. I decided to give it a try and so far, so good. As far as hold, I'd say it's about medium with great curl & frizz control. It's not gel, it's "gelee" for curl defining so it has a softer hold. Joico is great for shine and all their products provide some conditioning do to containing human hair keratin protein.I LOVE JOICO!
