I wrote "appears to be excellent" because this was given as a gift. I personally don't care for pigs feet pickled or otherwise.With that in mind when researching the product I noticed that the "name brand" pigs feet had received numerous negative reviews. Most comments stated the product contained a lot of fat and very little meat. As luck would have it another relative bought the name brand to give as a gift so I was able to make a comparison. I'm certainly not an expert but from I could see the other product was a mass of pink slime contained within a gelatinous mess. I was actually unable to distinguish the feet from the surrounding goo. On the other hand the Herb's pigs feet were quite easy to see through the pickling juice and looked very meaty with little fat. I haven't heard from the recipient yet but from outward appearances the Herb's are a far superior product as compared to the name brand.
