In this case it is olive oil, a monosaturated oil and beneficial.No matter what, once the liquid is drained from canned tuna, the calorie count is approximately the same.But here’s the reason why one should choose oil packed tuna, and even more beneficially olive oil packed tuna:Oil packed tuna, retains the nutrient in the flesh of the fish. Oil “seals” the beneficial nutrients into the flesh of the canned tuna.Residual olive oil may remain, but even that happens to be beneficial.What no one will tell you is that all tuna packed in water, leaches nutrients out of the flesh of the tuna fish, and unless one is drinking that packing water, one loses a great deal of the nutritional value stated on the label of the can.I found this tuna to be very flavorful and a good value.
