This product was purchased to add to my supply of freeze-dried foods and meals for long-term storage and use as emergency rations during natural or man-made disasters. It is packaged well to provide long-term protection from degradation and when stored in sealed, airtight, water-proof, rodent-resistant metal or HDPE containers, should do exactly what I have planned. This Super Sweet Kernel Corn is simple to prepare in a cooking container of boiling water over a hiking stove, a gas camping stove, or even a campfire, and makes a very tasty, flavorful addition to any freeze-dried or canned meat entree, along with a pouch of instant mashed potatoes and an envelope of gravy mix, both also prepared with boiling water heated with any of the aforementioned cooking systems. Its carbohydrates help provide additional energy often needed to perform physical tasks during emergency conditions. If necessary, it can also be eaten raw straight from the package, but I definitely prefer eating it cooked, rather than uncooked. If the entire package isn't prepared for one meal, the top of the bag can be folded over and the remainder placed in a quart-size Zip-Lock Zipper freezer bag to save it for a future meal. This product is a little pricey when compared to the price of 8 ounces of canned sweet corn. But considering how long this product can be stored for future use and the length of time a can of sweet corn would last in storage before spoiling and needing to be replaced by a fresh can of sweet corn, this product's value over time makes it a better buy. And if the emergency conditions last for a long time and there are no fresh cans of sweet corn available to replace the spoiled can, this product is a must-have!
