BABOR Lifting Derma Filler Serum for “elasticity & skin firmness” lacks artificial fragrance but has a subtle scent possibly from wild carrot or other plant extract. There’s potential to cause irritation, though my sensitive, dry, mature (55+) skin hasn’t had any visible irritation or negative reaction. I wouldn’t say this formula feels particularly comforting or hydrating on its own and instead it just feels rather neutral to me. But shortly after layering a good moisturizer over it my skin feels comfortable.My face feels a bit tight at first (which I don’t like) but that feeling passes shortly after moisturizing well. I assume the tightness is from denatured alcohol, which I try to avoid as it’s drying and can make my skin look more wrinkled and irritated. But it’s low on the list here and my skin doesn’t get a cooling or burning feel or show obvious dryness or irritation that I get from products with more alcohol. While I’d prefer the alcohol wasn’t in the serum, my skin is tolerating what seems to be a small amount and it can help absorption of good ingredients.This serum is clear, lightweight and non greasy. It absorbs quickly (likely from the alcohol) and doesn’t leave a noticeable residue. I use it on my face, neck and décolleté after cleansing, toning and spritzing with a little fine mist water (such as Fleuri, Vichy, Evian, etc.). I use just a touch of fine mist water before the serum as my skin and environment are so dry that I feel the hyaluronic acid (HA) needs some moisture to draw from for better plumping and smoothing. I like using a rich moisturizer after and at times use a couple drops of an unscented face oil last to boost hydration if needed.So far, this serum does a great job quickly plumping my skin and minimizing and smoothing lines. My skin feels soft and has a firmer look and feel, even in problem lines around my mouth. I assume the fast plumping and more youthful appearance I see already are largely temporary benefits from the HA. I can’t yet judge long term benefits as they can take many weeks or months, but I’ll continue use as my sensitive skin tolerates this well and ingredients such as peptides may improve laxity and firmness with ongoing use.
