When first using this spot treatment, I first was reminded of a clay treatment. It actually looks and feels very much like a very thin version of a brownish clay mask. But when applying, you don't pack it on as you would a clay mask. You only need a very thin layer. Once applied, you will see a thin brownish layer that sits on the surface of the skin. Don't worry about that because that color will eventually fully fade away. Because of that, as well as what this does to the skin, some might do better just using this at night.What I found that it does is draw out the excess sebum from the pores. For that reason, I only use this for spot work, almost exclusively along my nose. Depending on your complexion, you might have different areas that you work with this. This is not at all something that I would use over my entire face, but you do what works best for your needs. I have mature combination skin, so it would not be a good idea for me to use along most parts of my face, though it's ideal for me to use on occasion along my nose. Not something that I would use on a daily basis for my complexion, but it sure works great when my nose is getting a bit too oily and the pores need a good cleaning.My only issue was that it seemed to make two tiny little troubled spots worse, but knowing what was going on with my skin, I realized that it just looked a little worse while clearing out the pores. That lasted for only about a day or so and then my complexion looked a lot better for the long haul. What it did was draw out the sebum and create tiny bumps that just did not fully release. Just a little scrubbing in those areas easily broke the outer layers of skin still holding in that sebum and cleared away what needed clearing. That soon fully cleaned up and improved my skin quality along those spots without further irritation and stayed clear for a good long time. It also kept my nose clear and free of excess oil for a good while. As in, balanced and spot free. I'm not a teenager, nor even young anymore, so I would assume that those with oilier and more problematic skin might need to use this a bit more often, although you don't want to use on a daily basis. It does work really well for those who need that excess sebum removal that lasts for a fairly long time. With use, you'll get use to how often to use and specifically where to use.Though this seems like a small jar for $38 (today's price), it's actually something that will most likely last you for a long time as it's only meant to be used occasionally for spot work. That ends up making this a fair value for its results as it should end up lasting for a long time.
