I owned a Welch Allyn for several years, it was great but having to recharge it constantly was a pain. This battery powered kit is much more convenient, smaller and more portable. Light is dim? Just throw in some new batteries rather than letting it charge for an hour before it's usable like the Welch Allyn. The otoscope lens also swings out of the way to provide access for forceps, etc. in case you ever need to retrieve a foriegn body. Overall the kit's quality is on par with the Welch Allyn, and is a fraction of the price. I really like this kit, the Xenon bulbs are very bright and the battery life is good. Very happy with it!
